Natural Edge spalted maple burl goblet

Natural Edge spalted maple burl goblet

Another style made for showing at my upcoming demo on goblets in September. I thought a natural edge would be kind of neat to have in the display. I like the figure in the maple burl and spalting on this piece of wood.

5" tall and 4" wide......finish is in process ...a couple of coats of wipe on poly over shellac to pop the grain....after curing, I will sand it back and put a couple of final coats on it.
I guess I should clarify a little here........the theme of the demo in September is " goblets/stems/pedestals" so this one is one of several styles........this one with a pedestal and the others have a stem on them........just trying to keep faith with the theme of the demo, even though most goblets do have stems.......

Also, with the natural edge on this, it is obvious that this is simply for display and not to drink from.......that jagged edge might not be too kind to tender lips!
