Apple Hollow Form #500

Apple Hollow Form #500

Apple Wood: 9-3/4” x 7-1/2” tall. I have been looking for a piece of wood to turn a hollow form with voids. I found this piece and was planning on filling the small voids with turquoise. After shaping the outside with a number of bug hole and cracks I decided to just see how thin I could get it. The weight is 14 ounces and it was an interesting turn considering the number of voids and cracks in the piece. If ever I was outside my comfort zone, this was it😁
Thank you! Plan changed in the middle of the turn, had to go thin to make sure no more grubs were hiding in there 😂

really nice. How thin is the wall? Looks pretty even.
Top half is 1/16- 3/32, balance is 1/8-3/16.
Hard part was finishing the bottom, had to wait a few days for it to dry because of the flex. Once it dried it still flexed but I had some good padding on the jam chuck and very light pressure, very sharp gouge, very small cuts , and a lot of praying😂
