#2130 Australian Red River Gum Burl.....(detail photo)

Original wood block had 14% MC, and after roughing without anchorseal, it continued to lose weight over the next 7 months.....until stabilized. 8 1/4" x 3 1/8", 1lb 3.9oz. Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. This is a very rare burl with this kind of unique voids, and I've never seen anything quite like it before, and not since then either. The voids tore up a lot of sandpaper, but the results were well worth it. Finished on 8/2/24 and sold for $525 on 9/17/24.

=o=
How did you address the buffing compounds leaving residue in the voids?

Very limited use of compounds, very light pressure, alternating directions, tile brush, tooth brush, dental picks.....lots of patience, determination......and time!

:)

Well done, Odie. I think those voids are called pitch pockets ... but I've been wrong before! :)
