"Mean Bead"(s) Pencil Cups

Figured Myrtle Wood, Macassar Ebony, Olivewood, Each about 5" tall and 3" wide
Nice grouping Tom! What did you cut the bead with please??

After I get the blank turned into a cylinder and define the overall height, I measure out where the bead should go (upper mean point). Then I define the width and depth (height?) of the bead with a parting tool. Then I shape the bead with a spindle gouge. Then I shape the top and bottom 'to' the bead.

I saw, and handled, these in person last night and they are more amazing than the pictures show.
