Maple Memories

16 months ago, a 60-year-old Norway Maple in my yard had to be taken down due to insect damage. I am finally able to finish turn those blanks. The outer rim on the platter was meant to portray the unfortunate decay of the tree with some incredible color and figure inside. Rim is rotary carved with acrylic paints.
I love the contrast between the center and the edge Al. It represents the wear and tear of life nicely!!
