Maple hollow form w/ void

Maple hollow form w/ void

4” x 4”, finished with shellac and buffed on a wheel

Forms with voids have captured my attention lately. Trying to predict how the void will translate from log to turned form is a fun exercise; I’m always a little surprised (in a good way…usually 😅). This is the thinnest hollow form I’ve turned so far. Being able to see and feel inside the vessel helps, of course. Figuring out how to efficiently sand the inside was a good challenge and I think I’ve come up with a good technique. Going to do a post in the Project thread for the piece I’m currently working on that will include more on that.
