A birch footed vase. The interior has been completely pyrotextured and the exterior textured with a 101A Rotary Chisel. The cell windows were started with two lines of indexed drill holes on the lathe then finish shaped using a rotary carver. The exterior was charred and dyed red and finished with 5 coats of gloss polyurethane buffed back with Tripoli compound to kill some of the shine. I had a buffing wheel that I'd used to polish some aluminum with Graystar compound which left the wheel charged with aluminum which I used for a final buff giving a metallic sheen to the piece. It's more noticeable in person but still subtle. I final coat of Krylon matte to lock everything in place......
