What a stunning piece! I really love the way the scorching works with the colour, and the way the defect have been incorporated in to the piece - like the crack coming from the pith on the right - it really works!
did you pyrograph the outer edge of the platter as well?
well done!
 
Sorry - i just found your comments. Jason - the outer edge was just burnt, and the left half (on the picture) has some burnt bark as well.
