Nice use of color and form. Would you please explain your coloring and finishing process.

Thanks for the feedback Keith. I used water based aniline dyes on this piece. The color sequence was peacock blue, ruby red, and yellow. The dyes are applied one at a time, wiped down with a wet rag, allowed to dry, and sanded back.

Joe, I'm liking these pieces very much -- so much that I did one of my own that I will post this weekend. Just curious, do you start with a color idea in mind, or are you simply experimenting? If the former, what determines the order of the colors? Thanks, Kurt

Thanks for the kind remarks Jerry and Kurt. I look forward to seeing your post Kurt. I usually have a color scheme in mind when I start out. They don't always turn out as planned though. When working with transparent colors, I always start dark and progress lighter. It is the opposite when working with opaque colors.

Complementary colors beside each other will give the greatest pop. Analogous colors will give you the smoothest blend.
