"Fun with Color"

A platter turned from figured maple. It's the most dramatic colored piece I've done, unfortunately it hides a great deal of the beautiful figuring in the maple. After the color was added it was finished with several coats of satin polyurethane. The dimensions of the platter are 9.5 inches in diameter by 1.25 inches deep.
Quite interesting and imaginative Roger. As you say the color hides the wood, but yet it doesn't. The patterning peaking through is effective.

As always you turnings always give me reason to keep trying to improve. Very nice, great idea with the colors. Jack

You could use transparent colors to show the figure etc more? I use Golden brand airbrush colors and they work well for that effect.
