"Friendship..."

This turned and carved piece is a holiday gift for a very special friend of mine. It's titled, "Friendship is the purest form of LOVE" and was made from cherry with a walnut base. It is about 10" tall. The carving was done using a variety of hand tools, including chisels, gouges, rasps and a coping saw with additional finishing work by a small pneumatic die grinder and a lot of hand sanding. The finish is BLO and water-borne acrylic lacquer. I've never done this kind of work before and am quite pleased with the outcome...making it likely that I'll do additional pieces along the same lines in the future.
Sorry this is so late Jim but I just had to comment. This is a wonderful piece that I hope your friend feels the work and love you put into it. Wonderful and I do hope you do more - you have a gift.
