Turned from Bay wood, rim is burnt and ebonized.
Great proportions and the rim is very cool. Made me think of a fuzzy neck scarf. I'm from the PNW and am not familiar with Bay wood. Is it local to you?
 
Thank you both! The wood is called Oregon bay myrtle, or California bay, I believe. I am in New York, so not native to me. I believe it's the same tree we get bay leaf for cooking from.
