When I initially got into turning, it was specifically for resin based projects, so I'd been using carbide cutters since I started. I have since done some non-resin stuff, but was still using my carbide cutters. This weekend, I decided to try the traditional cutter route, with HSS. I admit, it was actually a lot better cutting wood instead of scraping it, and it was more fun. Unfortunately, I did not get to hollow it out as much as I wanted because it was pretty wobbly at the free end, even with a faceplate. Probably going to get some kind of steady rest or something, because making this was really a lot of fun, and I certainly want to do more of it. And this Olive Wood smelled absolutely amazing as I was shaping it.
