Emerald Island Pine

16" Norfolk Island Pine with my first foray into coloring. Blue chestnut spirit stain thinned down into 3 parts mineral spirits to 1 part boiled linseed oil, applied twice onto a fairly yellowish wood creates the emerald color.

The contrast is not the grain but the spalting of the wood. I haven't seen Norfolk colorized, I'll likely play here a bit further. A bit of pyro to accentuate the knot star and an ebonized cherry collar, finished with glass lacquer.
