Elmburl bowl

Before I went on holiday to Denmark this summer I put a question about turning timber on a Danish forum for woodturners.
There I came in contact with Stig who had a lot of elmburl in his backyard, he also has two dogs and was wondering if I could bring some dried fish for the dogs from Norway.
The agreement was then 8 kgs fish traded with a 40 kg elmburl. This is the first bowl turned from the burl 20 cm wide and 23 high, wall tickness 10 mm.

Fish for wood? That's a new one. What a beautiful trade. I bet you were happier than the dogs! Well done.

Atle, I'd trade wood for fish or fish for wood with you. I have two dogs with whom I often share my Alaskan Salmon. Hey, that's what the Iditarod dogs eat!

Good trade and even better turning!
