Ebony Box

A few years ago I visited Doug Leite, a woodturner on the Hilo side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Doug is an amazing turner, and one that made the lathe that he turns on, a very good one. He also build his own Rose engine lathe. He gave me a nice piece of African Ebony. I was always worried that I wasn't going to do the beautiful timber justice. I finally got my courage up and put it on my Stubby 1000. Hand chased threads. 2 Koa pewa on a crack that gave me the opportunity to show the matched crack instead of the grain, LOL Sanded to 1000 grit with Yorkshire micro abrasive paste and laquer.
It a formal, tuxedo box with not one but two bow ties! Very nice Emiliano. It's actually reassuring to hear that someone with your skill and experience occasionally has doubts about doing justice to a particularly special piece of wood. You have done so with this one!
