It's incredibly easy to use. It brushes on like water. Minimal build, though you can get lap marks once it starts to build on the surface. I haven't yet started selling the shot glasses. We're engaging in rigorous product testing first :>) After quite a few rounds of bourbon the vessel seems to be holding up well. If you've ever used rain-x on your windshield, it's a similar effect. Water (or bourbon) will bead up and roll off, rather than forming a film on the surface. That it does that on bigleaf maple is pretty astonishing. I bought the finish from Jarrod Dahl through his Woodspirit Handcraft site. He's importing it from Japan.
I wonder about the potential of lap marks on large turnings - say...big salad bowls? Do you have enough working time to apply it on big stuff without issue?

I do think you'd have lap mark issues on a large piece. The finish dries kind of like thin shellac. Also, for a big salad bowl there's no down side to using a simple oil finish. It's easy for the customers to maintain, a _whole_ lot cheaper, and faster to apply.
