Danae

Through the teardrop window of this rosewood disk is a pattern on gold. I was inspired to create this pattern from a design in the painting Danae by one of my favorite artists, Gustav Klimt. The disk is 8 diameter. The base is 3 deep. I made it from a block of rosewood, turned on my lathe, and mounted on a padauk base. The Klimt-inspired design is painted in acrylic on gold-metal leaf (not real gold) and gently rubbed to mellow the pattern. Finished tong oil- varnish.
