Curly Siamese Rosewood Round Bottom Box

My last box before my demo this weekend, this is one of my favorites! Turned from Siamese Rosewood (Dalbergia cochinchinensis) this piece is just stunning, with the intense micro curl on both sides, the deep, glossy, saturated reddish brown color, and turned in my signature round bottom style, it truly is eye candy!! Lidded box features include a true round bottom, chamfered edges and curved sides. Turned, hollowed and finished with gloss lacquer. Size is 1-1/2" tall x 1-3/4" diameter. I have completed most of my preparation, and am almost ready to show how I make these boxes!
I have never used lacquer, but have a can of Minwax, and want to try it, what is your finishing process? How high do you sand, and how many coats? How do you apply it? Brand? Yours is a paragon for small boxes, and I hope to emulate your quality!

I first sand up to 400 grit and use steel wool to polish the surface. I then apply a abrasive polish to refine the surface. After that I apply one coat of Masters Magic spray lacquer, gloss. I spray it in a dust free environment and put it on pretty thick. Not too thick as that causes runs and drips but thick enough to create a smooth surface. After that I may apply a second coat depending on the wood. Lastly I will let the finish cure and buff it with a buffing wheel, using the carnauba wax. This makes a glass smooth finish!
