A friend gave me this beautiful piece of fiddleback koa which I used for the lid along with a body of holly . I thought the light holly would contrast nicely with the koa. About 5 1/2" dia. x 5" h. I'd appreciate all comments.

very nice, everytime you look at the piece you will think about your friend

Dale, I like making this kind of box. This is a beautiful example of marrying a spectacular piece of figured grain with a more plain wood to frame it. The result is just lovely and very usable. Usable art is a great way to enjoy and promote our craft.

Both pieces of wood are gorgeous and the contrast works very well for me. Nicely done!
