Studded bowl in Cedar.
G

Studded bowl in Cedar.

The idea for this bowl was given to me by Mark Sanger
The outside is scorched and coloured with Chestnut spirit stain and oiled.
The inside is textured with the Robert Sorby texturing system and ebonised with Chestnut ebonising spray.
The studs are imitation wrought iron.
The bowl is approx 12" dia.
HI George

This is quite a statement piece. I do not know if I like it or not.

The form of the bowl is very good and I like the colouring and sloping rim which draws the eye into the form. The studs for my liking are too large proportionally for the piece, but on the flip side it does give it a masculine feel to it and as I have looked at it more it is growing on me.

I admire that you try new things and experiment with ideas as this is the only way to develop your work.

Take care

Mark

Hi Mark.
It is different.
Hopefully it will get some feedback from other members.
If it is wrong i will blame you for putting the idea in my head although i have to admit you did suggest little points not great big studs.
My granddaughter who is a Goth thinks it is wonderful and wants to wear it around her neck on a chain.

Regards George
