This instrument was inspired by cigar box guitars and is the first fretted instrument I've made. I was able to get the measurements from an online fret calculator at

I named it "My Demons" because of the fire that I saw in the spalted top. I continued the flames in the design on the fret board.
The bowl and fret board is walnut. The top insert is book matched spalted sycamore and the neck is cherry. The bridge and nut are ebony.
I turned two necks at the same time by face jointing two pieces together with brown paper between them. The bowl and lid were fitted together. I'll be doing a demonstration of the technique for the Waxhaw Woodturners club in December.
The guitar has four strings tuned to Open G (GDGD). There are a number of different tunings that you can do with the instrument. I also installed a piezo pickup in the guitar so it can be plugged into an amp. A lot of the things I've learned about making these came from
