Spalted Beech and Anjan lidded form

Being new to the AAW and coming from over the water in the UK I thought that I should post a picture and say hello to you all.

The form is spalted beech with an Anjan lid with a bamboo bar running through it. The beech and bamboo are sourced locally. It measures approximately 120mm dia x 120mm high, finished in cannuba wax.

It is lovely to turn. quite hard and cuts to a good finish straight off of the tool. It is close grained so takes an excelent finish. I normall go through the grits and finish on 800 or 1000 with it, then seal with sanding sealer and finish with cannuba wax.

Best

Mark, welcome, and we won't hold it against you that you live 'over there'😉. In fact, this is a beautiful piece and you get the POD!

Thank you very much for your comments. Wow I logged back in to be greeted by the picture of this piece as the POD!.

I am very priviledged by this.

In answer, Yes Charlie bamboo grows quite well over here I think it is all the rain !! Thanks

Angelo Thank you. I try with all of my pieces to make the base as small/fine as possible so that you can not really see it and so the form just seems to blend all the way round. Some times I manage it some times not.

KurtB Thank you it's quite nice over here except it has rain all summer, well it appears that way at least.

Thanks again all

Take care

Mark

Mark,

Beautiful piece. Very pleasing to look at and I like the way the top relates to the rest of the piece.
