This was a tiger maple platter turned in a class. I was aiming for a little less dying and the look of an edge of an old Fender Strat. It was a 1st attempt. Size 10"x2.5"
Chip,
Four great pieces here. I find all of them interesting. I have just turned my first two pieces of mesquite and experienced the wormholes in the sapwood, but didn't see any in the heartwood. Something to look forward to. That must be one tough worm with sharp teeth. I have never tried dye, but these two pieces make me want to try it.
"Fender Strat" sent me off on a Google search. I thought maybe it was some kind of fender skirt from the 50's. Just my age I guess.
