Spalted Maple Box

All I can say is be carefull what you do because it can come back and bite you ! A few weeks ago I sent my friend Robin Costelle a finial and challenged him to put something "under it". Well early last week I received a package in the mail from Robin and guess what was in it. The pedestal under this box with a note saying "put something on top of it". Now this was a real challenge to try and come up with something to go on a Costelle pedestal. Anyway this box is it and I hope Robin is pleased. The box is Spalted Maple. I tried to mimick Robin's pedestal with the finial, a daunting task especially for a simple turner like me. This measures 2-3/4" diameter by 12-1/2" tall.
