Flower petal vessel

Couple of folks wondered what one of my flower petal pieces would look like without the color on the burl. Well I did one and thought it has an interesting look. Not as eye catching but nice. Flower is maple burl with African blackwood stem; almost 13 tall. What do you think? Comments always welcome.
i am a fan, i like the natural color/stained color of the maple burl and i like the air brushed dye colored that you do, you yourself probably need the variation in your petal series, i saw one titled petal 195, what type of device do you use to do the air brushing of the dye??

I am also a fan, and have admired each of your flower petals. I would be grateful if you could give some insight in to how you make such delicate "flowers".

Me too! I do like the natural look of wood to idetify the medium, but I'm really impressed with your colored flowers.

Thanks y'all.

I use an IWATA airbrush with procion fiber reactive dye - water based - then put on a finish with UV inhibitors, either home made wipe on oil/varnish or water clear lacquer.

Not for sure what area of the country you are in but if you're planning on attending SWAT in Oct I'll be doing a demo on how I make the petals, if not I am working on the handout so email me and I'll send you a copy when complete.

Thanks for your comments - Bill
