Banksia bowl and leaves

Wood: Taupo grown Banksia
Diam: 125mm (5")
Height: 60mm (2-3/8")

This piece of banksias has been sitting under a caravan in the back yard for about ten years. We sold the caravan so I had to move the wood I had piled up underneath, as you do. The banksias had quite a crack in it so I through it a side to burn but thought better of it and turned this up. It seemed very dry but it moved heaps after it was finished. The base is round so sits on a slight angle, which gives it more character.

Thanks Dale, The texturing is pyrography and the colour is iridescent paint brushed on with a very small brush. If you go to one of my earlier post there is a Black Maire bowl with the same texture but much bigger. The detail is much easier to see.
Cheers, Robbie

Thanks for sharing, Robbie. I love the Black Maire bowl. Your work is beautiful ... and original.
Dale
