Broken Heart Repaired

About 8" diameter x 2" height x 3/16" thick maple with 2 coats rubio. When I was making the heart bowl from @David Wyke instructions in projects this piece of wood was beside the one I made. Since it had a crack in it I decided to do this, I thought it was neat. I used to work in a maintenance weld shop and our standard saying when someone brought something in to repair we would tell them we can fix anything but a broken heart. The two end pewa on each side of the lineup are hand inletted since the router bit wasn't long enough to reach.
The pewa definitly added a lot of time. Making the bowl was pretty straightforward. I changed the process a little from your description. I mounted it on a chuck screw and completed the bottom first. I made a bead for the foot that matched the size of my chuck so when I turned it around to finish the top the bottom is completed, including sanding.

Looks like stitches after “open heart surgery”. Beautiful work.
