A lidded-box with a small tray for displaying a ring or similar trinket. The hollowed box was turned from cherry burl and the finial from two pieces of ebony. The bottom of the finial was turned face-grained which highlighted a subtle brown streak running through the center. The remainder of the finial was turned long-grained and is capped with a "radiator fin" element. The box rim was lifted slightly with a pyrographed band under the bead. This piece was turned as part of my "Black Finial Series".
