Cremation Urn Serial 24036 Model UCOT0811250

Cherry body turned from the full round with cherry segmented lid threaded 3.5" - 8 (8TPI or metric M88.9 - 3.175) Finished with Walnut Oil. The dimensions are 8" diameter X 11" high X 250 cubic inch internal volume. The wood comes from an urban tree ( that is about 200 miles south of where I live) that was given to me by a relative so I don't know the specific cherry but the bark did look like black cherry. Feel free to critique.
Great looking urn Don, love the form and finial. The mixed grain direction joints of the lid have me a little concerned it might develop cracks in the center or at the edges as moisture content moves around with humidity.

The segmented lid is made up of 5 layers, each layer is made up of 4 square pieces that are arranged end grain to side grain than surfaced to about 3/16" thick on a drum sander. The layers are glued together at a 45 degree offset such that all edge joints are briged.
