Open Segment Basket Weave

An open segment bowl done in a basket weave pattern. Sepele and Wenge with a Danish oil finish. Roughly 9.5" diameter and 7" in height. This was an interesting glue-up.
Oh wow - did you glue it up completely before turning the inside?
Thanks again for the kind words JIm. I started this glue-up with the short bottom verticals, then added the bottom long verticals, then was able to glue and position the first row of horizontals, sitting on top of the shorter verticals and butting up to the sides of the longer verticals. From there, it was just a repeat sequence of adding another row of long verticals, then another row of horizontals, etc.. And yes, after every other row of horizontals was added and gave the verticals stability, I then turned and rough sanded the inside lower rows. A much simpler glue-up than I was originally dreading when noodling over this project, but it did require fairly good miter angles.

Ah, I get it now. When the horizontals are added, it makes it a solid ring so you then can turn the inside as you build. I really love this and cannot stop looking at it. Great choice of woods - really stands out!
Mind if I give it a try?
