Do you like the crush grind mechanisms? I have no experience with them.

HI Richard, Yes, I like using the Crush Grind - I kept for my own use the first protype mill I made using that mechanism - I like how it grinds - it functions very nicely. In my opinion, this mechanism has several advantages over the "old-fashioned" spring type grinders - (1) greater design flexibility not limited by the length of the threaded rod of the old style kits (2) the ceramic mechanism can grind salt/pepper/spices; no need to worry about corrosion, (3) the grind adjustment is far superior.
That being said - the installation instructions aren't that great, but there are several good videos out there that walk you thru the process. As I said, the first one I made using this mechanism was my prototype - I didn't have any major problems & was able to see where I might improve on the next ones I made. So far, I have made 3 mills that have the shaft mechanism, there is a "shaftless" Crush Grind option that I plan on trying sometime soon -- I have decided that I will not use the old style kits anymore.
