Twisted Sisters

These mills are first rough turned and drilled on the wood lathe. The fluting is done on our hybrid Rose Engine lathe using the curvilinear slide rest and a pattern. The ball top is also turned on the Rose Engine using the spherical slide. Then back to the wood lathe for finish turning etc. The dark mill is Ash that has been ebonized by charring, brushing, dying black, lacquer spray and gilt cream to highlight the textured wood. The remaining wood is Arbutus (Madrone) The dark mill is also designed slightly taller and larger in diameter.
