Walnut Wide-rimmed hand-carved Bowl/Plate

10.5" x 1.6". Hand carved texture. PTO finish. Started carving last March, paused due to repetitive strain carving injury. Finally got back to it 9 months later, finished it last week. Yay!
I've learned a LOT about how not to approach long carving projects.
I started hand carving this with a Flexcut V groove palm gouge. I ended up switching to the same Flexcut blade but inserted in a Ryobi Cordless reciprocating carver. I can get the same cut with less strain on my shoulder.
Great looking piece, Will. Love the randomness and clean cuts of your carving.
Did you decide against the flex-shaft reciprocating hand pieces ??? ... or, just didn't get around to getting one yet?

Thanks Tom for your kind comments! I am still reluctant to spend the big dollars for a flex shaft reciprocating handpiece carver. I have found nothing used in the Canadian market. I had been aware of the Ryobi 4V cordless reciprocating carver but had thought it was probably not very powerful. I decided to risk the $70 and bought one and find it quite adequate for the carving I do. Compared to my corded Ryobi it is lighter and slimmer and fits my hand better. So for now I am happy. Thanks for you continued interest.
