Desert ironwood

Ring box made from desert ironwood with a locally harvested cherry collar. I was gifted this piece of ironwood from Charlie, a member of our local group. He’s been holding on to the piece for over 30 years, as he was hesitant to make something from it. I was able to gift him a finished box in return.
Really lovely, John! Desert Ironwood is a species I have yet to turn, though I am quite attracted to it whenever I see a nice turning. Well done.
Thank you Michael. I’m pretty spoiled that I was gifted that piece. Maybe if we’re able to meet up at a symposium in the future I’ll bring you a piece to swap.

Looks like Charlie made a Segmenter out of you with this gift piece John! Charlie made the right move sending this in your direction!!
He told me that he just didn’t know what to do with the block of wood until he saw the boxes I made and decided that I should use it for that. I actually teared up when he handed it to me, haha.
