Coiled Basket Illusion

Black locust 8.75" x 2.5". The main design element (red arrow) is adapted from a basket made by Lucy Telles (Miwok, Southern Miwok, Mono Lake Paiute) and on exhibit in The Met NYC. Although it's a bit unusual to use black locust for this type of turning, the variation in hardness and resulting variation in darkness of the stitching gives the illusion of a well aged (and used) basket.
Super job Tim! Beautiful design and execution. I think your continued use of black locust is a great choice and I look foreword to seeing more!
