This wig stand was turned to support the Tennessee Association of Woodturners' ongoing wig stand project in conjunction with the Women in Turning chapter. I encourage everyone to find a way to give back to the community in some way with their turnings. Whether it's empty bowls, beads of courage, turn for troops, wig stands, or some other way, it's wonderful to share our craft with people who need a little something special.
The stand is hard maple painted with acrylics. I pulled inspiration from the furniture and sculpture of Ettore Sottsass and his work for Memphis Design Group.
