Triple Vessel

Bradford Pear, about 8" by 8" by 10" high including finials. The rosewood finials are all the same size but look different because of foreshortening in the photo. This came from a triple crotch and turned on three centers, each located on the piths. Finished with Osmo polyx and buffed.
I have to ask, did you basically using hollowing methodology to do the undercuts on each box? I love the ingenuity and look of that amazing piece of art.

Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful wood and craftsmanship.

What sort of jig did you use for mounting? A faceplate, or some fancier contraption? That's an absolutely beautiful piece.

To do the exterior, the top of each vessel is turned conventionally. To get the bottom half of each vessel, I used a swan necked hollowing tool in reverse.

I turned between centers using a Robust safety center with the bowl drive attachment. I formed a 2 inch tenon on the bottom of each of the three branches, then used a standard chuck to form the outside shape and hollow each vessel

Ok so far that is what I envisioned you doing. I'm curious if you use hook tools to get the underside of each box formed, ala hollowing tools.
