“Remnants from my Cubist Period”, completely turned except for the artist canvas base. The curved tube is hollowed all the way through. Finished with airbrushed acrylics.
Keith, this is a wonderful piece, but I'm gobsmacked. I know you're very clever, but this exceeds my ability to comprehend 'totally turned.' Would some additional explanation be possible?
First, turning a cube. Stock is turned on three axis points; true up two ends, change axis points, true up the ends. Rotate one more time, true up the ends. You have a cube. The tube? I will give you a clue. Imagine a bagel sliced down the center. Throw one half away. Now take the remaining half and cut it into two equal parts. Put the two parts together like you're making a sandwich. That is the basic idea. If I showed you, you would say “ah, simple”.
