Cherry vase with ginkgo leaf

As I am posting this we are on the way home from a week at John C Campbell Folk School where I took a relief carving course with Dixie Biggs. What a great experience! She is a wonderful teacher and a creative and incredibly talented artist and turner. The hollow form (previously turned) is about 10” tall 7” wide.
Great job Lou! I was walking through the fall leaves yesterday and considering integrating a leaf carving and wondering what leaves would look good. My thought has always been on a maple leaf of some kind. The Gingko was a great choice!

Thanks Will. In the class Dixie also had us do clover leaves and I did a study with overlapping white oak leaves to practice getting depth in the carving.
