The Apache culture created a ceremonial style of burden basket that was meant to hang outside of a dwelling. Guests were encouraged to "place" their burdens in the basket before entering. A nice idea for us all. The leather tassles with metal ends are carried over from the functional burden basket design. The stand is just a way to present it without hanging it on a wall. The basket is 8" tall and 7" wide at the mouth.

Every house should have one of these David….you’ve got your work cut out for yourself now, lol! I like how you’ve pinned the leather tassels with a pinned bead….what is the fastener please?

Where the tassels are attached I carved a flat in the bead ring. I drilled a 1 mm hole in the center of the flat all the way through to the inside. I used nylon whipping twine pushed through the hole with medium CA on it. It is cut flush on the inside and camouflaged.
