Dogwood Petals

Flower petals painted with undercoating of milk paint. This bowl has the acrylic on top of flowers after a light rubbing off of some of the milk paint. It is an interesting process.
Beautiful effect Linda! I like everything about it. The colors you have chosen work beautifully. Is the texture on the uncarved areas just from the milk paint? How did you do the carving?

I did carve a texture around the flowers and carried it inside the bowl. The milk paint might have added some texture because of light sanding after dry.

I used sabertooth whisper ball burr and diamond ball burr.

Nice job on carving the flowers Linda! My first thought was this is a lot of work for the hidden bottom of a bowl but almost immediately remembered the impact of a surprise to someone picking this up!

It would show case better on a bigger taller bowl. Perhaps as a rim on a platter. I just don't make enough bowls to have had one available.
