NAVAJO SUNSET

This piece Is made from hard Maple first turned hollow on the lathe it finished at 8" x 18" then the pattern was hand drawn and hand carved. It was then colored with Acrylic Paint, Alcohol Inks and pyrography for texture, the final finish is satin lacquer.
I’ve seen and appreciated a lot of your work, Bruce….
With that in mind, I think this is your best ever. The details (especially the way the “ropes” appear to be stretching the wood at the connection point) are really great and I really like the coloring.
Congrats on this one…

It’s very difficult to argue with John’s observation Bruce. This piece seemed a touch busy at first glance and as I looked at the detailing, it is so well done! Every section is like a chapter in a book, something the piece can’t be without. Best ever is absolutely not a stretch!

Wow just wow! I to love the connections at top and bottom , wish you had done the same where they meet in center band. Absolutely stunning! The mtns on top really finish the piece off. I too have keep an eye on your work, my favorite by far. Fantastic!

Thank you John, Yes I did the same thing on my last piece like this RELIC most did not even notice. This is made to look like it was made from leather that was stretched with lather strips. I have a few more ideas like this I will be doing next year, as my plate is full with other projects.
