Hollow form that was carved and painted. This is one piece of wood, nothing added
Really nice and fascinating work Don. Stunning painting of the Rainbow and Char (and looks like a bait fish being chased - nice). Trying to hash though the process to make this, from a single piece, leaves me very impressed and intrigued . I presume the hollow form was left fairly thick to allow the "branches" to be carved. What is the size, and the wood? Well done.

Chris, Thank you. The piece is about 24" long and was hollowed to 3/8". The end where the branch and minnow is was a solid block left on the bottom of the vessel. Sycamore is surprisingly strong and I cut it out without breaking anything.

Lots of work paying off nicely Don! 24” is impressive in itself but to then transform a vessel into a sculpture like this is fantastic!! WOW!

Wow, that's incredible, Don! At first glance I assumed the fish were inside the vessel. The paint job, especially on this side - for me, is very impressive. Your skills as a taxidermist transfer well to your woodturning art. Love it !!!
