Cholla Cactus Pens with Inlay

Jr. Statesman Rollerball Pen Kits - the barrels were made from branches that were on a large Cholla Cactus plant that is in my yard - the dead branches dry out naturally in the sun & weather. I crushed Turquoise Tru-Stone into small nugget pieces & filled all the natural openings in the Cholla cactus by individually stacking the nugget pieces to insure there would be no voids. I used thick Parfix CA to bond the nuggets and thin CA to build up for the final finish - wet sanded & buff polished.
We may need your mentorship to show Ryan how to do these cholla blanks, Dave. Ryan is very intrigued after Jim’s inlay demo today!

Hi Scott - I would be glad to mentor Ryan thru a cholla pen project --- they are fun to make but they are challenging and take some time do - definitely not a "crank one out in an afternoon" type of project! I'm thinking that the first step would be to meet & talk about the project & review the tools/materials required. If you still have my phone # send a text or call & we can set something up...
