Re-Painted Carved Bowl

8" x 3.5" really bland Soft Maple, turned, hand carved, acrylic paint, WOP. This is a reposting from April. I was unhappy with the blue.
This IS more attractive than the blue, IMO. Is the lighter color effect achieved by sanding off the paint or by a dry-brush technique? I think showing some natural wood (interior and/or rim) would emphasize your carved & colored exterior. Just my 2Ā¢ ... worth what you paid for it. ;)

Thanks Tom. I appreciate you making the effort. Comments and critiques are always welcome!
My brain has been in painting mode so I didn't even consider sanding back- but I do like that option.
It was dry brushed metallic gold but my brush technique was not great so I resorted to using my finger. "Dry Finger Technique" may be my claim to fame some day šŸ˜‚

Will, your "dry finger technique" is definitely an option. I believe that is/was the recommended application method for a product called Rub'N Buff (sp) - which I used before switching to Gilder's Pastes - same finger method is an option. Hmmmm, I haven't used either product in quite a few years.
