More playing around with the deep hollowing tools I bought at AAW Portland - hollowed this one out to a ~ 1/4 inch wall thickness through a 1 3/8 inch hole. Spalted Box Elder, 4.5 diameter by 2 inches tall.

this is a very nice piece. Did you have any problems with cracks? I cant seem to finish one that doesn't crack!

Thanxs! :)

No problems with these cracking. When I used to hand sand to 320 / 400 or so - I would sometimes get heat induced cracks. Now I power sand with a cheapo Harbour Freight right angle drill with 80, 150 and 225 blue sanding disks that where recommended in a thread in Main topics on sandpaper. No more heat cracks.
