Dyed ash hollow form

Dyed ash hollow form

This little hollow form is 3 1/4” in diameter and height with 1/8” thick walls. It was hollowed with my Trent Bosch stabilizer and Mike Jackofsky 1/2” hollowing tools. I’ve just ordered a set of the 1/4” Laurent Niclot mini hollowers from Trent, but couldn’t wait for them to arrive, so I had to go with a 1” opening. Hopefully once I’ve got the new tools, a much smaller opening will be possible.
Nice little piece here, Lou. Osage orange w/ dye around the rim?

you may want to take a look at Jackofsky’s Hollow Pro Rocket series. I have them and the Niclot tools. Both are good quality, but the Hollow Pro Rocket set is a little more robust and gives me much less chatter. I’ve managed to get the opening to just under 1/2” with the Hollow Pro Rocket set.

Jaramiah, no, this piece is ash with dye. First yellow overall, then magenta on the rim. The previous smaller one was Osage orange. No dye on that one.

I will take a look at that one. Thanks. But I’ve spent the tool budget (for at least a week or so ;-), does it ever end?).
