"Suupu du Jour"

Derived loosely from a traditional Japanese lidded soup, rice or noodle bowl.
The bowl and lid are from Tree of Heaven tinted with fiber reactive dye and topped with many coats of lacquer sanded back with red Scotchbrite and buffed. The faux lid topper is from Zircote. I thought it offered a nice contrast to the pleasantly blandish vessel. 6" x 4-1/2"
Thank you for looking!
The form is way cool, and the Ziricote does offer contrast. How are the half circles made? Why this dye special?
Thanks Peter. I marked out the high points with the index wheel on the lathe and used a drum sander to add the curves. Fiber reactive dyes form a covalent bond with organic fibers/cellulose providing a very light fast color.
