I Navigate These Seas By Starlight

Black Oak bowl, Bloodwood pewa, Koa, Bradford Pear, and Bamboo canoe, India ink, acrylic and milk paints. 7.25"d x 3"h. When I posted a previous piece, "The Vessel", Emiliano commented on Hawaiian wayfinders using the stars to navigate the seas. I went down the rabbithole, and came up with this piece. Imagine being alone on a vessel, using only nature's clues to guide your path. How inspiring!

So very creative ... love it! Is the sail a partial turning? On the next one I expect to see your artistic version of the Milky Way included. šŸ˜€
